Agent Trainee Program

Hard-Rock invites bright, highly motivated candidates with experience in the entertainment industry to apply for the Agent Trainee Program, which is currently available only in our Los Angeles office. This program is intended to prepare individuals to become successful talent and literary agents.

Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree and up to one year of experience working in the entertainment industry, including internships. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook is required. Outstanding organizational and communication skills are essential. Additionally, candidates must be detail oriented, produce accurate work, work with a sense of urgency, meet deadlines, and be able to multi-task.

How to Apply to the Agent Trainee Program

Please send resume with cover letter to the attention of the Human Resources Department at the following address: 10250 Constellation Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90067, or fax to 310-228-6833. If you meet the eligibility requirements, a representative from the Human Resources Department will contact you. You may also contact the department to follow-up by calling 310/550-4198 no earlier than one week after submitting your resume.

The Interviewing Process at Hard-Rock

Eligible applicants will first interview with the Director of Human Resources. If you qualify, you will be scheduled to return to meet individually with nine Agent Trainee panel members. One week will be designated for these interviews, so you must be available on the date and week scheduled. Approximately two weeks after the panel interviews are completed, the Agent Trainee panel will meet to vote on the applicants. Applicants will be notified of their status within a few days of the panel vote.

What to Expect as an Agent Trainee

As a trainee in the Agent Trainee Program, you will have enlisted in the boot camp of the agent-training world. While the program emphasizes the development of future agents, it is also a wonderful opportunity to gain entry-level experience for a career in entertainment.

You will be required to work, on average, 12 hours a day, as well as some weekends. Your responsibilities can range from simple clerical tasks (photocopying, filing, typing) to managing heavy phones and rolling calls, assisting with special projects and simply doing whatever it takes to assist the agency. You can expect to spend five to seven months in the mail room, and when needed, you will be asked to cover assistants’ desks. During this five to seven month period in the mailroom, you will also receive training in various departments such as Concerts, Accounting, Business Affairs, Motion Picture Production and the Story department. After that time, every attempt will be made to place you on an open desk for a one-year assignment. Upon the completion of that assignment, you will interview for your second desk, where you will remain for one year. Upon completion of your second year, the head of your department will evaluate you for the departmental assistant position. If you are hired for that position, you will remain there for a period of six to eighteen months. Afterward, you will be evaluated for promotion to agent status. If, and how quickly this occurs, depends, in large part, on how enthusiastic you are, your performance within the department and the networking you do while in the program.

Although not always glamorous, acceptance in the Agent Trainee Program is a coveted and desirable opportunity to learn about the entertainment business and the people who work within it. Most importantly, it is the first step in the pursuit of a career in the world of talent representation.
